Australia Trains on GBK Field A, Joe Gauci: Best in Asia

JAKARTA – Players Australia Joe Gauci acknowledged the quality of Field A, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. This was stated when the Socceroos – Australia’s nickname – trained there, Sunday (8/9/2024).

Joe Gauci said his team was very comfortable training on Field A. Because, he thought the field had good enough quality that Australia’s preparations could run optimally.

“(The pitch) is good. One of the best pitches I’ve been to in Asia. So, it’s good at the moment and the session is fun,” said Joe Gauci as reported on the Australian Football Federation website, Monday (9/9/2024).

In the training session there, Australia requested special treatment from PSSI, namely the field fence was covered with black cloth. They took this step to provide comfort for the players during the training session.

The goalkeeper said the weather in Jakarta is a challenge for Australia at the moment. However, he ensured that his team can adapt as quickly as possible so as not to affect their performance on the field.

“(The weather) is warm. I’m used to Birmingham weather, it’s very cold. So, when the sun goes down, the air (in Jakarta) starts to get a little bit cold,” he said.

Australia challenged the Indonesian National Team with less than ideal capital. Because, they suffered a 0-1 defeat from Bahrain in the previous match at Robina Stadium, on September 5, 2024.
