Australia criticizes Afghan cricket board with statement – 2024-03-21 11:11:55

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has criticized the Australia Cricket Board (CA) for postponing the bilateral series. The Afghan Cricket Board released a statement criticizing the Aussie Cricket Board.

In a statement, the ACB said, “The ACB calls on the Australian government to impose some kind of policy on the cricket board. Instead, the ACB seeks the board’s support for the development of cricket.” Earlier, the top officials of ACB sat in discussions with the officials of Australian cricket. Instead of announcing a direct suspension of the game, the ACB suggested finding an alternative route.’

Australia has suspended a three-match bilateral series due to the widespread deterioration of human rights for women and children in Afghanistan. Criticism started after that.

Earlier, Australia had suspended the series against Afghanistan two more times. Australia made the same complaint during the series that was postponed.

Australia has been complaining since the Taliban government took over Afghanistan. Aussies postpone a Test match against Afghanistan in 2021. Then the 6-time world champions canceled the ODI series in 2023.

“Cricket Australia should understand its own position as a full member of the ICC,” the ACB statement added. They have to find a different way out of outside pressure or government influence.’

At this time, ACB mentioned that their cricket board is free from political influence.
