Xalapa, Ver. (Process.com.mx) .– The first debate to the governorship between the candidates for the governorship of Veracruz was divided between proposals and the questions of corruption and illicit enrichment and attacks among the participants.
The two-hour debate was held on Saturday at the Museum of Anthropology and History where the topics of social and sustainable development, immigration policy, politics, government and democratic culture were discussed.
The first disagreement occurred minutes before the debate, when the candidate of the Morena coalition, Rocío Nahle, avoided shaking hands with the candidate of the PAN-PRI-PRD opposition front, José Yunes Zorrilla and only greeted the Movement candidate with a kiss and hand. Citizen, Polo Deschamps.
The debate began and ended with attacks between the leading candidates Nahle and Yunes who accused each other of corruption, enrichment and double standards. While the Citizen Movement candidate was practically not mentioned by his opponents, he dedicated himself to questioning them, calling them “part of the old politics.”
One of the harshest moments of the debate was when the candidate of the opposition front of the PAN-PRI-PRD, José Yunes Zorrilla accused the Morena candidate, Rocío Nahle of having 37 complaints for corruption “She has more complaints than Trump”
“I am afflicted by the double standards of the Morena candidate who is from Zacatecas, who speaks out against the poor, but lives in opulence, it is not consistent with the houses she has. She declares income of 100 thousand pesos and she has assets of more than 100 million pesos, she has inexplicable wealth,” she said when referring to Nahle’s accusations of having houses and land in luxury subdivisions.
In response, the Morena candidate, Rocío Nahle said: “I am going to respond to the PRI-PAN candidate, here I have receipts that he received from the government of Veracruz in 2005, they are 1 million, 750 thousand, 20 thousand pesos, 300 thousand”, and showed white sheets that apparently are receipts.
He also accused him of having on his team a person whom he identified as “Mrs. Ibarra,” who he said has 12 houses in Coatepec, Xalapa and Boca del Río. He also accused him of having a house in the scree of Mexico City that was financed by the former governor of the PRI, Javier Duarte.
“I didn’t want to be miserable and show photographs, because there are children, I come to work in Veracruz, I am a politician who has lived in Veracruz for 38 years, I didn’t go anywhere else to have children, I mean that I married a Veracruz man and I owe that to myself. “, said.
Candidate Nahle accused the candidate of the opposition front of belonging to a clan, and warned that she will ask the Attorney General’s Office to advance the investigation of the blue folder “There where the clan and the PRI-PAN candidate are, where There is talk of tax havens, of money laundering of 300 properties, they want to tarnish my honor when they are the ones who have that issue.”
He even said that he would ask the Attorney General’s Office to advance the investigation of the blue file, where former PAN governor Miguel Ángel Yunes is allegedly accused of illegal acts.
The questions from the debate moderators were used by the gubernatorial candidates to launch various attacks.
Some of the issues that were questioned about candidate Nahle were her origin and her ignorance of the geography of Veracruz. “He confuses Tlalixcoyan with Tlapacoyan, he confuses the Gulf of Mexico with the Catemaco lagoon, he thinks that there is a river in Oluta, if he doesn’t know Veracruz because this is not how he is going to solve the development problems of Veracruz,” Yunes rebuked.
Candidate Nahle defended herself by saying that she has lived in Veracruz for 38 years and accused of classism and racism: “My inclusion in the political scene of Veracruz revealed the worst sexist practices of actors who do not know or do not understand the advancement of women in different scenarios including politics”-
Other topics that stood out in the debate were the Dos Boca refinery in Tabasco, which she built when she was Secretary of Energy.
“He did not deliver the refinery on time, the refinery had a cost overrun, it has not refined a liter of gasoline, but yes, it has already produced houses, ranches.”
He also asked Nahle to explain why, as Secretary of Energy, she paid 33 pesos per two months for electricity consumption in one of her homes in Tabasco.
In response, Nahle showed graphs where he said that the Dos Boca refinery had 64 audits and not a single observation and denied the cost, “But I am not going to explain to a corrupt person that Duarte bought his house in El Pedregal and that Mrs. Ibarra He has 12 properties and a whole money laundering process. He is a cynic.”
For his part, the Citizen Movement candidate questioned both candidates for using government money for the elections through massive events, rallies, with actions that are part of the old politics.
Deschamps showed a photograph of the “Yunes” clan and said that the party was trapped in power groups and elaborated: “It is not an issue of a surname, it is that there are quotas of power in the always, polls that are not real Brunette. “Both PRI-PAN and Morena are kidnapped by powerful groups.”
The candidates’ proposals
Candidate Rocío Nahle highlighted the proposals of Morena presidential candidate Claudia Sheimbaun and said that she presented 80 commitments with Veracruz through eight axes of work.
Among those that stood out was a program to support heads of households and women between 60 and 64 years old.
In immigration policy, he highlighted the creation of industrial parks that are part of the interoceanic corridor and announced that it would add to the municipality of Tuxpan and said that it will create a migrant platform and install Regional Migrant Assistance Centers in municipalities with greater influx.

He highlighted his proposal to carry out regional development that takes into account regional productive vocations and strengthens the social rights of children and young people, as well as recovering the hospital system and strengthening the educational system with infrastructure and technology.

An equally harsh ending
The end of the debate was the same as it began, between attacks where the candidates called for the vote of their parties.
Candidate Nahle did not greet José Yunes again and left the anthropology museum where she was already expected by her supporters.
Polo Deschamps left the venue discreetly accompanied by his party’s state delegation, while candidate José Yunes was received with cheers for a rally after the debate.
