The devastating attack resulted in the deaths of four people, including two children, and left around 150 others injured as missile debris rained down on the nearby coast of Sevastopol, Crimea.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the missiles used in the attack were US-provided ATACMS, a system capable of hitting targets up to 300 km (186 miles) away.
Footage appearing on the internet showed chaotic scenes on the beach in the Uchkuyevka area, with people fleeing falling debris and injured people being carried onto sun loungers.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned the attack as “barbaric” and accused the US of “killing Russian children”.
He was referring to recent comments by President Vladimir Putin, who has vowed to target countries that supply weapons to Ukraine.
“The involvement of the United States in the attack on Sevastopol is beyond doubt,” Peskov said, adding that Washington and its allies encouraged Kyiv to commit acts of international terrorism and kill Russian civilians.
The Russian Defense Ministry further claimed that all ATACMS missiles were programmed by American specialists and guided by American satellites, emphasizing alleged American involvement in the attack.
“Washington and its satellite states encourage Kyiv to commit acts of international terrorism and kill Russian civilians,” the ministry said.
