Attack on Turbat Naval Air Base foiled, four militants killed: Army

The Pakistan Army said that between Monday and Tuesday night, militants attempted to attack the Pakistani naval base in Turbat, which was foiled by an effective counter-action.

The statement said that in the joint clearance operation, ‘four terrorists’ were killed, while a soldier of Frontier Corps Balochistan Nouman Farid also lost his life in the fierce exchange of fire.

A statement from the Pakistan Army’s public relations department, ISPR, said that ‘a sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement on Tuesday that the ‘terrorist attack’ on the Naval Air Base in Turbat was thwarted by the timely action of the security forces.

He said in a statement that the “terrorists” were killed by the timely and effective action of the security forces and “we avoided a major loss.”

Between Monday and Tuesday night, the militants tried to enter the Naval Air Base through Turbat Airport.

The Prime Minister said that we are determined to crush the monster of terrorism. The entire nation stands with its brave security forces and salutes them.’

Makran Division Commissioner Saeed Ahmad Imrani told Independent Urdu on phone that the attempt to enter the Naval Air Base in Turbat by attacking it has been foiled. He said that the security forces are clearing the area.

The district of Kech is bordering Iran and its district headquarters, Turbat, the second largest air base of Pakistan Navy is also located within the perimeter of the airport.

According to official sources, four to six alleged attackers attempted to enter the naval base from the northern side of the airport but were foiled.

The people of the area and the Levies Force said that heavy firing and more than ten explosions were heard in the vicinity of the airport during the attack. These sounds of explosions and firing started on Monday night at ten o’clock and continued until late at night.

The Majeed Brigade of the banned organization Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.

On March 20, 2024, i.e. five days ago, there was an attack on the residential complex Gwadar Port Authority in Gwadar, in which eight of the eight attackers were killed while two security personnel also lost their lives.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has said that he is ready to talk to all the angry Baloch personally and the establishment is also on board on the issue of general amnesty to the angry Baloch.

Sarfraz Bugti, speaking in Dawn News’ program ‘Live with Adil Shahzeb’, said yesterday that ‘Punjabis and Sindhis are not responsible for the deprived, the Baloch are responsible for the problems of Balochistan.’
