He Quilpue Zoo, in the Valparaíso region, suffered a devastating attack that resulted in the death of more than 20 animals and left five others injured. In this regard, the Valparaíso Regional Prosecutor’s Office He explained that the incident occurred early Sunday morning, after three dogs entered the cagescausing the death of 11 deer in the first instance, in addition to injuring other specimens of the same species and an alpaca.
For her part, the mayor of Quilpué, Valeria Melipillán, declared on social networks: “We found out that 20 deer and two peacocks in our Eco Park died as a result of an attack. In addition, there are five injured animals, in the process of recovery and being cared for by park personnel.”
Melipillán announced that the municipality will file a legal action. “We are not going to leave this situation in vain, We are going to take judicial measures so that it can be investigated and those responsible for the incident can be punished.”
The community leader also expressed her solidarity with the zoo staff: “This painful news also has a deep feeling of support for our municipal officials who are having a very bad time. They have seen the birth, raised and cared for these animals for a long time.Therefore, we share your pain and regret at this very sad time for us as a municipality.”
Finally, the Investigative Police (PDI) was in charge of the investigationsand the zoo is under guard to prevent future attacks.
