Asian Judo Cup to be held in Almaty

The southern capital of Kazakhstan is preparing for a significant international sporting event – from July 4 to 7, the city will become the arena for the Asian Judo Cup among cadets and youth, Liter.kz reports with reference to press service National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The tournament will be dedicated to the memory of Beket Makhmutov, former president of the Kazakhstan Judo Federation and vice-president of the Asian Judo Union, who made a significant contribution to the development of this sport in the country.

“It is expected that more than 700 young athletes from different countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, as well as representatives from Germany, Moldova and the USA, will take part in the competition. The event will be held at the famous Baluan Sholak sports arena, which has repeatedly become a venue for international competitions,” the NOC of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported on June 27.

The tournament will not only provide an opportunity for young judokas to demonstrate their skill and fortitude, but will also allow them to earn important ranking points that can play a decisive role in their future sports career. Held seven times in a row, the competition has become an important part of the calendar of international judo events and attracts more and more participants every year.

The tournament also serves as a platform to strengthen international ties and showcase cultural diversity through sport, reflecting the spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect between countries.
