This week we took a walk along the Boulevard de Asia and its beaches and discovered a series of activities, as well as new gastronomic and entertainment options, to enjoy the summer season that has just begun. Take note.
Festival drinks
Organized by Filo, the gastronomic producer responsible for Burguer Fest, this event brings together 13 restaurants and bars that will present a varied offer of cocktails: summer reds, mojitos, summer tonics and more. Some of the venues that will participate are Limaq, Isolina, Osso, La Gintoneria, Contraste, Shizen, Dada, among others. “This concept is totally different from what we have done so far. The idea is that each of the brands presents a drink option and another food option”, says Nachi Benza, organizer of the Drinks festival. The festivities begin on Saturday 27 January from 2pm at the Paradiso convention centre, on Asia Boulevard. Tickets are available at Joinnus.
Kou-Xin chifa bar
After the success achieved last season with Primos Chicken Bar, chef Marilú Madueño, franchising partner, has decided to expand her gastronomic range and open Kou-Xin, a chifa-bar which has already conquered the palates of diners on the Boulevard de Asia. “Even though we developed the concept relatively quickly, we are quite satisfied with the final product,” Marilú tells Somos. She explains that the menu contains classic dishes—chijaukay, savory noodles, wonton soup—but they’ve also introduced some new things, like the chaufa with grilled chicken pieces, which she says has caused a sensation. It currently plans to only operate in Asia during the summer season.
KO: functional training
The farming system that Peruvian Ale Llosa has transformed into a philosophy of life is conquering the beaches south of Lima. Their method, which combines exercises, meditation and good nutrition, has made several stages: they started in Punta Hermosa and next month they plan to land in Asia (in Playa del Sol, Playa Blanca, Las Palmas and Playa El Golf). “This season we decided to bring the KO proposal to a different place every weekend,” says Ale. “What we’re looking for with this ‘tour’ is for people who are in summer mode to discover the benefits this experience can bring them,” she adds. Each appointment is accompanied by activations and surprises for participants. “You could say it’s a ‘wellbeing’ celebration,” concludes the specialist.
Breeze
Weekends in Asia are heating up even more with a new nightclub. This is Brisza, the newly opened temple of fun that only invites those over 30. It’s only been partying for three weekends, but it’s already become the boulevard’s new hip space thanks to its big stages and dance floors, stocked bars and live DJ music featuring the season’s best pachanguero hits. To become a Brisza member, you just need to go to their website (www.briszaasia.com) and fill out the form with the required information. The party is guaranteed.
Kaia
Since it opened in Punta Hermosa in the middle of the pandemic, the Kaia restaurant, a word of Hawaiian origin meaning “sea”, has become one of the main culinary references in southern Lima. Maki and poke bowls are their specialty, but they also highlight dishes like grilled salmon, squid ink risotto and salted tuna that are a sensation among their customers. All these delights have arrived in Playa Bonita, Asia. “In this second location we implemented the ‘Kaia Nights’ proposal, with live music and DJs so that people come to eat and have fun at night,” says Yasmin Kahatt. This 2024 brings with it another surprise: at the end of the summer season, Kaia will open a new location in Lima.
Shekel
It was not only created as a space for ‘indoor cycling’, but also as a place to disconnect and reduce stress levels. For some time now, Síclo’s proposal has become a favorite for those who love the ‘fitness’ lifestyle. And this summer you can also practice it in the Asian location. “This time, in addition to the original idea, we created a yoga ‘tour’ on the different beaches of Asia. It’s about combining traditional yoga techniques with exercises,” explains Macarena Vidal, brand manager of Síclo. «In addition to working on the physical part, which allows us to improve our cardiovascular health, we focus a lot on the mental part», concludes Macarena. The meetings are suitable for children, teenagers and adults. More information: @siclo.
Cola bread
Its last Instagram post of 2023 announced the changes and new directions Lima’s best bakery would take for the next year. One of these was the opening of a new branch in Asia, on Brisas Beach, with the same essence that has characterized them since Jonathan Day, the performing arts student turned baker, created the brand 13 years ago and which was born right in Asia. In this space we find the usual naturally leavened breads, but also sandwiches, coffee and other products – from croissants to focaccias – which are already starting to make summer days more appetizing and memorable. Impossible to miss it.
Alanya
Their croissants and cakes, as well as breads, pastas, salads and pizzas have traveled more than 97 kilometers and settled in Playa Blanca, Asia. “We didn’t think we would have such a great reception, but the place is packed, especially on weekends,” says Zara Alanya, owner of the brand. “The menu is the same as in Lima. The only variation is that we include some fruits from the area, such as figs,” he explains. All residents of other beaches in Asia can reach the new location in Alanya via the seafront. A great alternative to start the day with a good breakfast, or end the afternoon with a delicious lunch in front of the sea.
‘Pop-ups’ and fairs
Among the outdoor activities, the various ‘pop-ups’ and fairs that have become a tradition stand out. They happen almost every weekend. One of these, perhaps the most visited in recent summers, is the pop-up Playa Cocos (@popupcocos), which includes more than 50 brands of fashion, beauty, decoration, jewelry and more. Highlights include Bambi, Lola, Zalia, La Papelerie, Magnolia, Ale Morey, among many others. Other fairs will take place on January 25th in Santa María and next February 7th in Bujama.
Fashion brands
In 2024, new brands operating on Asia Boulevard were added: Perfumerías Unidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Billabong, Coliseum, Aruma and Columbia. According to the managers of this shopping center, the aim of the brands is to conquer a new audience to stay longer. By 2027, 70% of stores are expected to remain active in both winter and summer.
