Scientists have created an artificial intelligence model that can detect cancer based on computed tomography (CT) images.
Publika.az According to The Guardian, the artificial intelligence was created by experts from the Royal Marsden Foundation, London Institute of Cancer Research and Imperial College London. They used the images of about 500 patients to write an algorithm that detects cancer tumors.
According to the author of the study, the created model showed high efficiency in early diagnosis of cancer.
“We hope that in the future this artificial intelligence will facilitate the identification of high-risk patients. In turn, this will allow greater progress in the treatment of the disease due to the early detection of high-risk cancer patients,” said Benjamin Hunter, one of the researchers.
The algorithm is currently in preliminary development and further research is needed for its implementation in the healthcare system. But scientists believe that the advantages of artificial intelligence in the early diagnosis of cancer are already obvious.
