The Labor Court has issued an arrest warrant against MA Hashem, the owner of Hashem Food and Beverage Factory (Sejan Juice) and Deputy General Manager (DGM) Mamunur Rashid of Rupganj, Narayanganj.
Narayanganj Labor Court Chairman Kiron Shankar Halder issued this warrant on Tuesday (April 2).
It is known that on 8 July 2021, eight days before the death of 52 people in the fire, Neshar Uddin, labor inspector of the Directorate of Inspection of Factories and Institutions, Narayanganj filed the case.
Neshar Uddin, the plaintiff in the case, said that on July 8, 2021, at 6:30 in the evening, 52 people were killed in a fire at the Hasem Food and Beverage factory located in Karangop area of Rupganj upazila. However, just eight days before this incident, on June 30, 2021, I filed a case in the Dhaka Labor Court as a plaintiff for violating the 9 sections of the Labor Act. Where the factory owner MA Hashem and Deputy General Manager (DGM) Mamunur Rashid were accused.
He also said that in the case, it was alleged that necessary measures were not taken in the factory to ensure corona and health protection. Non-availability of fresh air circulation in six floor rooms on east side of factory, non-approval of work schedule notice by inspector, non-existence of effective safety committee, non-maintenance of one meter gap between walls for installation of machinery, non-conformity of existing factory machine outlet plan with approved design. , not having correct license category in proportion to the current number of workers and not having electrical safety system inside the building.’
The case filed in Dhaka Labor Court was recently transferred to Narayanganj Labor Court. In that case, the Narayanganj Labor Court judge has issued a warrant against the accused.
Meanwhile, a murder case was registered at Rupganj police station on July 10, 2021, in connection with the death of 52 people in the terrible fire at Hasem Food factory. In that case, factory owner MA Hashem (70), his son Hasib bin Hashem alias Sajeeb (39), Tarek Ibrahim (35), Tauseeb Ibrahim (33), Tanjeem Ibrahim (21), Shahan Shan Azad (43), Deputy General Manager of the factory Mamunur Rashid (53) and Salahuddin (30) were arrested. The case is currently pending in court.
