MORELIA, Mich. (apro).- Two people died and three more were injured as a result of an armed attack that occurred early Friday morning inside the Monumental Cervecería y Crudería bar in the Nueva Valladolid neighborhood in the downtown area of this city.
According to unofficial reports, one of the deceased was a worker at the Morelia City Council and the other remains unknown, while among the injured are a traffic officer from the Civil Guard and a woman.
The attack occurred when the establishment was about to close its doors and the victims were the last customers, who were consuming alcoholic beverages and living together in the place.
Suddenly, several armed men entered the building located a few meters from the La Monumental bullring and fired around forty shots at the group, according to the number of cartridges later collected by experts from the Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
Upon arrival, paramedics assisted the injured: Brenda Berenice, 32; Yair, 34; and Carlos Alberto, 32, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries but were taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Specialists from the Forensic Services and Crime Scene Unit (USPEC) of the FGE also arrived at the scene, where they collected evidence and transferred the bodies of Imer Hiram, a City Hall worker, and a male person whose identity has not been determined, to the morgue.
Until noon this Friday, the authorities had not released official information about the event and it was unknown if any of the alleged perpetrators had been arrested.
