In addition to the digital driving license, the digital registration certificate is now also available in the “eID” app.
Vienna (OTS) – In the future, it will be enough to show your smartphone during a traffic stop, as long as the “eIDs” and “Digital Office” apps as well as an ID-Austria are fully functional. By simply scanning the QR code, the data on the digital driving license and the digital registration certificate can be checked by the authorities. Attention: The digital registration certificate does not replace the analogue registration certificate but is only an additional service and is currently only available for private individuals’ vehicles.
With the registration certificate – in contrast to the driving license – it doesn’t matter whether you have it in credit card form or paper form. For both variants, the digital version can be activated on the smartphone. During a traffic stop, however, a maximum of the QR code can be created for a registration certificate. If the registration of two vehicles – such as a trailer – is checked, two separate QR codes must be generated. It should also be noted that both the digital driving license and the digital registration certificate are currently only recognized and controllable in Austria. When traveling abroad, both documents must be carried in paper or credit card form.
According to ID Austria, anyone who has concerns about data protection or forgery need not worry: the security measures of the ID platform and the ‘eIDs’ app are up to date. Since the data is loaded via ID Austria, it meets the highest security requirements EU level and are signed in a tamper-proof manner. In principle, the ARBÖ welcomes the government’s digitalization offensive. “With the digital registration certificate, the range of digital services will be further expanded. Many of our members use the digital version of important ID cards and documents on their smartphones, such as the digital driving license eID app or the ARBÖ club card in the ARBÖ app. It is therefore very pleasing that these users can now also access the registration certificate for their vehicle digitally,” KommR Mag. Gerald Kumnig concludes, welcoming the new service.
