MADRID (Portaltic/EP).- Apple announced its new Apple Watch Series 10, a smart watch that reduces its thickness, increases the size of its screen and incorporates features dedicated to health and the measurement of sports activity, such as the detection of sleep apnea and water depth in water sports.
The Cupertino-based company held its annual event on Tuesday under the motto ‘It’s Glowtime’, where it also unveiled its new smartphones, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, in addition to recalling some of the features that come with iOS 18.
In the case of the Apple Watch Series 10, the firm commented that this device comes with a larger panel to be “more useful and intelligent”, understanding that for users “it is crucial” to have a large and accessible screen at their disposal. With an OLED screen, it has been created to be 40 percent brighter when viewed from any viewing angle, which has also been enlarged.
In addition to being the lightest smartwatch, it has a sapphire crystal coating. It can be chosen in two finishes – aluminum and titanium – as well as in three colors (gray, gold and black), and in two sizes: 42 mm and 46 mm.
In terms of battery, it charges to 80 percent in just half an hour and offers a battery life of up to 18 hours. Meanwhile, it is equipped with an S10 chip and is designed to offer better performance, also taking into account energy efficiency in its manufacturing process, and it also promises to offer an extended lifespan.
Health issues
The company said the device is intended to be used for health-related issues, as it addresses disorders such as sleep apnea and displays breathing-related data that can be shared directly with a professional or doctor.
It also comes with a sensor for water sports, which measures your temperature and has a range of use up to 6 meters for activities such as swimming or snorkeling. It also works outside of the water, for sports such as surfing or rafting. The Workout app also now shows distance, speed and offers route maps.
In the case of the Ultra 2 device, which like the previous one will come with a special Hermès strap, the brand has insisted that this model fine-tunes the functionalities to offer more options to athletes even in environments where there is no internet connection.
Made from Black Titanium, the Ultra model incorporates the functionalities of the previous smartwatch – such as the apnea detection function and the electrocardiogram application – and comes with an always-on OLED LTPO2 retina display, with a maximum peak brightness of three thousand nits.
It is also waterproof, has a sensor to measure its temperature and is suitable for high-speed water sports. In addition, it works at a depth of up to 40 meters, comes with dual-frequency GPS and has a mobile connection. As for its autonomy, it lasts up to 36 hours of normal use and up to 72 hours in low-consumption mode.
Both this and the Apple Watch Series 10 are now available for pre-order and will be available starting September 20.
