You may have already experienced it yourself. Your phone sustains water damage due to a heavy shower or, for example, falling into a swimming pool. Many think that it is wise to place the smartphone in rice, because rice absorbs moisture. But Apple warns against this method on their website. The small rice particles can damage your smartphone and furthermore, it is not particularly efficient at drying the device.
Apple offers alternatives for unlucky people who suffered water damage. First and foremost, all cables and accessories must be removed from the device. Then gently tap the phone with your hand and point it downwards to remove excess liquid. If you still see the message after 30 minutes of drying, it is best to place it in a dry room for 24 hours and then try again.
In addition to placing your device in rice, Apple advises against two other methods. Drying with external heat sources or compressed air and inserting foreign objects such as cotton swabs or paper towels into the connector are also not recommended. (rovn)
