Apple has just officially released the first iOS 18 Public Beta, giving iPhone users the opportunity to experience new features and breakthrough improvements.
The update was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June and went through three developer betas before being released to the public.
Outstanding new features
1. Customize the screen: iOS 18 allows users to customize the home screen to their liking with the ability to arrange the positions of application icons and widgets. Users can also change the icon color and switch to Dark Mode.
2. Control Center: The Control Center area has been redesigned, allowing users to customize the layout and add third-party function keys. This enhances the experience and ability to quickly use features.
3. Photos app: The Photos app on iOS 18 is improved with an intuitive interface, organizing images by themes and allowing users to customize the collection according to their preferences. The search feature is also improved, making it easier for users to find images.
4. New security features: iOS 18 adds a variety of security features, allowing you to lock apps with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Users can also hide apps and manage contact access in more detail.
5. RCS messaging support: For the first time, iOS supports the RCS messaging protocol, making messaging between iPhone and Android devices more seamless and secure. This feature supports high-quality media streaming and group chats.
6. Screen Sharing (SharePlay): The SharePlay feature on iOS 18 is improved, allowing users to draw or control other people’s screens. This is very useful for technicians or those who want to provide remote support.
Apple Intelligence is an artificial intelligence (AI) system deeply integrated into iOS 18. However, these AI features are not currently available in the beta version and will be updated later.
