MADRID, (Portaltic/EP). – Apple has released the iOS and iPadOS 18.1 betas for developers, which are now available for download and testing and introduce the Apple Intelligence ecosystem powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Apple Intelligence is presented as a set of AI-powered capabilities designed to offer a personal, private and integrated experience across Apple device services, such as its virtual assistant, Siri.
The company planned to integrate Apple Intelligence into the first versions of its new operating systems – iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and MacOS Sequoia – starting in the fall. Specifically in September, although it will finally be integrated into iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1.
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple will release the final version of these updates in October, although they will not include all the features included in Apple Intelligence. Among them, those that will be part of Siri.
Following the release of iOS and iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS Sequoia betas earlier this month, the firm has now released iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas, targeting iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPads powered by Apple Silicon chips. That is, M1 or later models.
At the same time as these betas, the one aimed at macOS 15.1 computers has been published, as well as the final updates of the iOS 17.6, tvOS 17.6 and visionOS 1.3 operating systems, among others.
In accompanying developer notes, Apple notes that when using Apple Intelligence in these betas, “the new Siri user interface may not be displayed in full screen on larger CarPlay displays.”
Some of the features of this ecosystem that are not included in iOS 18.1 include the AI image generation tool, Image Playground, Genmoji, the magic eraser to remove unwanted objects in photographs or the integration of ChatGPT, as media such as 9to5Mac have been able to verify.
These betas are intended for developers, so that they can test them and provide feedback to the company so that it can improve the features they offer in preparation for their official launch.
To access them, you must register your Apple ID and enroll in the Apple Beta Software program, before joining a waiting list for the opportunity to test these versions from the Settings section of your devices.
Some of the features enabled in these versions include the smart writing tool integrated into applications such as Mail and Notes, another dedicated to reducing interruptions – to show only the notifications that require immediate attention -, transcription summaries and new features for Photos, as reported by media such as MacRumors.
