Antigua Guatemala prohibits parking on public roads

The municipality of Antigua GuatemalaSacatepéquez, issued a statement to release information related to the activities scheduled for this February 18, that is, the First Sunday of Lent.

As indicated, parking will not be allowed in the urban area of ​​the colonial city, so it is recommended to use municipal and private parking lots. This prohibition on parking on public roads begins on Sunday, February 18 and ends on February 19.

The entity assured that 5 thousand municipal parking spaces and 3 thousand spaces in private parking lots are available. And it was indicated that there is a web platform to check its location.

The city council also shared a series of recommendations to visitors to the colonial city, among these:

• Visitors with reservations will be able to enter without restriction and consider the prohibition of parking on public streets.
• Taxis and platform transfer services can enter the periphery without restriction and will not interfere with the processional routes.
• In the municipal parking lots there will be buses to transport people to Antigua Guatemala. The schedule will be from 5 in the morning on Sunday to 1 in the morning on Monday the 19th.
• Merchants were recommended to stock up on products no later than Saturday, February 17.

The commune of Antigua Guatemala also reminded street vendors that they must carry their authorization issued by the Municipal Affairs Court, in addition to the fact that music and loudspeakers are not allowed.

“Always maintaining the order and solemnity of the processional procession,” he highlighted in the statement.

Bus circulation and service in restaurants in Antigua

Regarding urban and extra-urban buses, it was detailed that they will be able to enter the circulation periphery established in the town.

And, regarding restaurants and home delivery services, it was indicated that they will be allowed, as long as the delivery time does not exceed 10 minutes. “They must come out of the hull at the end of the delivery,” he clarified.
