Applied training has begun within the scope of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality’s Solar School Project. Within the scope of the project, where 170 young people will receive training, young participants will be given training on solar panel installation, maintenance and repair.
The young participants started practical training in the ‘Sun School’ project, which was implemented within the scope of the ‘Labour Market Support Program Operation Grant Program for Young People Neither in Education Nor Employment’ (NEET PRO), which is implemented by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and supported by the European Union and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. 170 young people are being given practical training in the area established in Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Education and Innovation Centre.
Applied vocational trainings
During the 12-day training, participants will be given a course on Solar Panels and Photovoltaic Systems Installation, Maintenance and Repair. Renewable energy field teacher Bayram Alioğlu said that they started the training with the aim of providing qualified personnel to the sector and said, “We started the 12-day professional training in two groups. Five power plant stations were established in the field. The trainers are showing the applications of leveling, shingle roof, tile roof, panel assembly on wood and construction. We want to develop the manual skills of the students and provide qualified personnel to the sector who can demonstrate their talents.”
170 young people will receive 12 days of training
Güliz Yaman, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality EU Relations and Project Branch Manager, stated that practical training has started after theoretical training in the project launched for the employment of young people between the ages of 15-29 in the renewable energy sector, and said, “Young people who successfully complete the practical training will be given a university-approved certificate. We are working to ensure that our young people are trained as qualified personnel and are employed in the clean energy sector.”
“I want to progress in the solar power plant sector”
Melek Çelik, 29, who participated in the trainings within the scope of the project, said, “I have been away from working life for a long time because I was taking care of my child, I came across this project by chance and it caught my attention. I wanted to develop myself in different areas and applied. After online training and exams, I was entitled to receive practical training. I want to gain knowledge and experience in this sector and advance.”
“The project is a good opportunity for young people”
Noting that the ‘Sun School’ project is a good opportunity for young people, one of the participating students, Şerife Bera Ertekin, said: “The Metropolitan Municipality brought us together with companies in the GES sector and we received information about the working conditions. The Sun School is a good opportunity for young people who are not studying and cannot find a job, we need to take advantage of this.
