Answers to 10 questions related to Ehsaas Ration Program

In order to combat inflation after the corona epidemic in Pakistan, the government has announced a relief package for the public under which around two crore deserving families will be given discounts on the purchase of basic necessities.

1. Who is eligible for the program?

Those families whose income is less than 50 thousand rupees will be able to participate in the Ehsaas ration program.

2. What are the prerequisites for participation?

To participate in this program, the user must be a Pakistani citizen, have an identity card and a mobile phone, and have an account with the National Bank.

3. How many people can attend from one household?

Only one person per household or family can register. NADRA records will determine who is included in the person’s family.

4. How to register in this program?

A smartphone or computer is required for registration. The user can go to this website and register himself by entering his ID card number and mobile number.

Within four weeks, he will receive a message whether he is eligible to participate in the program or not. Apart from this, vendors can also register themselves on the same website.

5. How much discount will be available under the program?

Eligible customers will get 30 percent of the total purchase back. In an explanatory video by Dr. Sania Nishtar, an example is given that if a customer’s total bill comes to Rs 3210, he will get an ’emotional discount’ of Rs 970 and pay Rs 2240 to the shopkeeper.

6. What is the maximum discount available?

A maximum discount of Rs.1000 per month can be availed. Every month this discount will start afresh.

7. Which items will be discounted?

This discount is not on all types of ration but only on three items, namely flour, ghee (or oil) and pulses.

Also, if you have bought anything else like sugar, eggs or milk etc. then the discount will not be given.

8. How many people will be able to benefit from this discount?

According to the announcement of Prime Minister Imran Khan, this facility is for two crore families, from which about 13 crore people will be able to benefit. This constitutes a little more than half of Pakistan’s total population, about 53 percent.

9. What’s in this program for vendors?

According to the government announcement, the discount given by the shopkeepers to the eligible customers will be refunded by the government.

Apart from this, the grocery owners will be given a commission on every Ehsaas ration sale and every three months they will get cars, motorcycles, mobile phones and other valuable prizes through a lottery for best performance.

10. What is the total amount allocated for the program?

According to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech on November 3, an amount of 120 billion rupees has been allocated for Ehsaas Ration Program.

So far, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir have joined it.
