Power went out in various parts of Amsterdam on Tuesday evening. People were without electricity for about ten minutes. It is the second time in a short time that the power has gone out in the capital. It is not clear whether the problems are connected.
57,000 connections were affected by the power outage, a spokesperson for Liander told NU.nl. It’s unclear exactly how many people were without electricity, because not all connections are for a single household. Among these, for example, there are also companies.
Liander reports that power went out Tuesday evening in sixteen zip codes: 1012, 1015, 1016, 1017, 1041, 1043, 1046, 1047, 1053, 1054, 1055, 1056, 1057, 1058, 1067, 1071. These codes post offices are located, among others, in Amsterdam West and Amsterdam South.
It is not yet clear what caused the power outage. The grid operator says the focus is now on recovery. He will then be asked what caused the power outage and whether it is linked to Monday’s. This is not yet clear.
Monday’s power outage affected 68,000 connections. The interruption was caused by the failure of a power station on the Hemweg.
