Ano Liosia: New revelations about the burnt body of an old man

The chilling revelations surrounding the case of the death of an elderly man in Ano Liosia continue, as his charred body was found in the yard of his house on Friday night (5/31).

It is recalled that his 59-year-old son, who lived with his father, has been brought in by the Police and allegedly confessed that he burned him as he had no money to bury him.

According to information the old man had been dead for 20 days.

Testimonies from the neighbors, who called the police because of the strong stench that had begun to emerge, state that they had seen the unfortunate man since Easter.

In fact, some revealed that he had confided in them that his son was abusing him.

Head and feet were found in a bin

The 59-year-old was seen by the neighbors last Monday or Tuesday burning something in his yard. As they said, the Fire Department was also called, but by the time they arrived, they had extinguished the fire, so the firefighters did not carry out an investigation.

When the police arrived at the house, the 59-year-old refused them entry into the house. In the questions put to him he first claimed that his father is in a rehabilitation center and then that he is staying with a relative.

When they finally entered the house, they saw the mattress with the charred body in the yard covered with a blanket. According to the latest information, from the police, human parts, specifically a head and legs, were found in a garbage can near the house.

They thought it was a dead animal

Initially, the neighbors thought that the strong stench came from a dead animal, as there is an abandoned building right next to the old man’s house.

When they decided to take action and remove it, they saw the mattress in the yard of the house, climbed to the roof of the neighboring apartment building and witnessed the terrifying sight.

What is being investigated?

Officers arrested the 59-year-old for violating the Arms Act and failing to report a death. He was taken today by the police to the house where the body was found, in the presence of a prosecutor.

One possibility being considered is that the elderly man died of natural causes and then the 59-year-old cremated his body. It will also be investigated if there was a previous criminal act.

The 59-year-old was working as a teacher while he was reportedly facing psychological problems.
