In Sunday’s AHL game against the Philadelphia Phantoms, the traditional “rain of bears” special promotion once again took place, in which 74,599 thousand soft toys flew onto the field after the “Bears” scored a goal, which is a new world record.
It also beat the club’s previous record, set last year, when 67,309,000 playing trophies were collected.

The toys will be donated to more than 35 local charities as part of the club’s Hershey Bears Cares program, which promotes Bears players, staff activities and volunteerism in the community.
Meanwhile, the Sweigard Family Foundation donated $55,000 to the Hershey Children’s Miracle Network in recognition of the generosity of Bears fans.
The “Bears” hockey players beat the “Phantoms” 3:2 in overtime.
