Anniversary in a time of conflict

Twenty two British D-Day veterans, the youngest, almost 100, crossed the Channel to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, effectively forming the thin thread that connects today with the heroic deeds of two or three generations back, when about 150,000 Allied troops launched a seaborne invasion of Western Europe that helped end World War II.
