Annie Garcés suffers a “mishap” while filming

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- Cuban singer Annie Garcés, one of the performers of the song “Patria o Muerte por la Vida,” has starred in a peculiar episode during the recording of a program at the Canal Caribe studios.

The program In real timebroadcast this Monday, focused on the Abril Publishing House, a publishing house that has, among its priorities, political-ideological work with children, adolescents and young people, and is governed by the guidelines of the Cuban Communist Party.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of this institution, which took place on July 1, 1980, the official program spoke with Aracelis Bedevia Santoyo, director of the Pioneer Magazineand with singer Annie Garcés, about the activities planned for the celebration of Abril’s 44th anniversary.

When Garcés intervened to talk about a song he had composed with the director of the publishing house for the anniversary, the recording set went dark, disconcerting the singer.

“Are we there?” the young woman asked when she saw that the lights had gone out. The event lasted a few minutes and the lights came back on gradually, because although the studio was illuminated a little, it was not fully illuminated until three minutes later.

Meanwhile, the singer spoke about the process of putting music to “Corazones verdes,” a song to celebrate Editora Abril and its workers.

The idea, he said, was based on the publisher’s director’s assertion that everyone who works there has a “green heart.”

Both the Canal Caribe video and the post on the “Tiempo Real” Facebook profile were deleted.

Once again, Garcés has demonstrated her loyalty to the regime. The Cuban, famous for having participated in the song Homeland or Death for Lifewas nominated last year as a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power for the municipality of Habana del Este.

In addition to her political commitment to the Cuban regime, official critics have stated that Annie Garcés has “great solidity in her approach” and that, “although she opens up to various horizons, she shows a very coherent and highly poetic interpretive personality.”
