News from Angola – The Angola Rally Team won the first edition of the Crono Rally 2022 in South Africa last week, in the SXS category.
The Raid Rally race was held in the Northern Cape and Springbok provinces, covering around 2000 km over the last few days of July.
According to the document that Notícias de Angola had access to this Wednesday, the stages forced the teams to cover around 600 km a day, which were challenging in terms of navigation and management of vehicle mechanics.
According to driver João Lota, “we intend to continue our preparation for the Dakar in 2024, taking advantage of events like this, which are similar in every way, and it was therefore a good test”, he said.
Navigator Nuno Santos stated that the team is evolving and argued that the main objective was the learning obtained, considering the final classification secondary, although obviously important.
After winning 2nd place in the “SXS” category at the Kalahari Rally in September last year, the Angolan team thus keeps the flame burning for 2024, the year in which it intends to compete in the premier international off-road race, the DAKAR RALLY.
The Angola Rally Team competed in the SXS category, with a CAN AM Maverick X3 vehicle and had the assistance service of the South African team “MOTO-NETIX”.
