Angola LNG reaches peak production in 2025

The Liquefied Gas Processing Plant (Angola LNG), located in the municipality of Soyo, province of Zaire, is expected to reach, in the second quarter of 2025, the peak of its production, increasing from the current 700 million to one billion cubic feet of this product per day.

According to the executive director of the aforementioned manufacturing unit, Amilton Cunha, who provided the information to ANGOP on Wednesday, the increase in production will result from some ongoing investments in the plant, as well as the increase in the volume of associated and non-associated gas to be supplied to the plant.

He highlighted that the industrial complex will receive more associated and non-associated gas from either oil platforms located offshore (high seas) or through other consortia.

“The commitment of our Executive, through the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, as well as the support of the shareholders of the company Sonangol, Total Energy, Chevron, Azul Energy and others have served as an incentive for the development of the factory”, he asserted. .

He explained that the Angola LNG Factory produces high quality metric volumes, and that, currently, production allows for around 50 ships loaded with this product to be placed on the world market per month.

“We are a plant that supplies liquefied gas, which is transition energy. Therefore, we have a strong component in our country in supplying clean gas to all parts of the world”, she emphasized.

He informed that the company has an entity in London (England), responsible for marketing the finished product.

He also referred to the production of butane gas, stressing that Angola LNG is responsible for all domestic gas consumed in the country, with a production of around 125 million cubic meters per day.

He explained that this volume of butane gas is transferred to the company Sonagás, responsible for developing the domestic gas market in the country.

Amilton Cunha also highlighted his company’s social responsibility policy, which at Zaire level has been contributing to the local government’s efforts to increase basic social services aimed at the population.

The Angola Liquefied Natural Gas project constitutes one of the largest energy projects on the African continent and is the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Angola.

Available data indicate that the first gas shipment was made on June 15, 2013, then a period of interregnum followed, and this process resumed in May 2016.

Fertilizer Factory will end delays in imports

The delay that still exists in the arrival of imported fertilizers in the country will be overcome, within three years, with the start of operation of the fertilizer factory in the municipality of Soyo.

This was stated by the national director of Agriculture and Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Manuel Dias, speaking to ANGOP on Tuesday, in the city of Soyo.

According to the official, currently, fertilizers imported from Russia, China and Morocco arrive in the country at the threshold of preparation for each agricultural campaign, a fact that creates constraints in planning.

“Everything that is imported has additional costs and generates wealth for the country of origin, so its production in our country will allow banks to save currency that will be used to meet other needs”, he said.

He recognized the potential of the future Soyo Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory (Urea), sized to produce one million and 300 thousand tons per year, which he considers sufficient to meet Angola’s needs, with the surplus being used for export.

The source revealed that there are few countries in the African region where Angola is located that produce fertilizers, which is why he sees the emergence of this manufacturing unit as an added value that will meet the internal needs and those of neighboring nations.

Manuel Dias, was part of the delegation of representatives from creditor banks, national and foreign investors, technicians from the AMUFERT Consortium, promoter of this project, and others, who on Tuesday visited the site where the project was implemented to check the level of its execution.

The project is being implemented in the Kintambi area, on the outskirts of the city, on a gross area of 152 hectares, 45 of which are used for the factory. PMV/JL
