Angola crowned COSAFA champion after 20 years

News from Angola – The National Football Team was crowned champion of the COSAFA Cup after twenty years after beating Namibia 5-0 in the final of the 24th edition, played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (South Africa).

Held in the city of Port Elizabeth, Angola was already winning at half-time by 2-0, with goals scored by Pedro Bondo (11′) and Depú (44′), converting a penalty after using VAR.

In the restart, Pedro Gonçalves’s players pushed the Namibians into their last stronghold and in the 57th minute, Angola scored the third goal of the match, through Vidinho, who successfully finished off Bernado Silva’s cross.

Petro de Luanda’s central defender scored twice in the 67th minute, taking a free kick at the edge of the opponent’s defensive area.

Playing with numerical superiority, Keliano (69′), scored the fifth goal for the Palancas Negras, after a beautiful assist from the “agostino” player, Hossi.

With this triumph, Angola wins its fourth title in the competition’s history, after having won in the 1999, 2001 and 2004 editions.

Scorer of two goals, Vidinho was named man of the match.
