The meeting follows a visit by the American leader to the African continent, which has already taken him to Cape Verde, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
This visit, lasting just 24 hours to the country, comes after the Angolan Head of State met, in November last year, at the White House, with his counterpart from the United States of America (USA), Joe Biden.
At the time, the two statesmen established a sustainable partnership in the areas of agriculture, trade, telecommunications, renewable energy, oil refining, space exploration, defense and security.
In this regard, the US has committed to investing 250 million dollars in the Lobito Corridor, to help make the project of massive circulation of goods between Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia a reality.
Angola and the United States of America established formal diplomatic relations in 1993, with the energy sector at the heart of the relationship.
Since the end of the civil war in 2002, the foreign policy objectives of the United States of America in Angola have been to promote and strengthen Angola’s democratic institutions, economic prosperity, improve health, and consolidate peace and security.
