Andrea Natalia Ojeda is the interim director of Health Surveillance

Dr. Andrea Natalia Ojeda took over this Wednesday as interim general director of Health Surveillance of the health portfolio, replacing Dr. Águeda Cabello, after her death.

“I assume this direction with great responsibility, above all, taking into account what Dr. Águeda left as a legacy. At this moment, the objective is to continue with the work of epidemiology and surveillance, which has been growing for several years,” said the new head.

Ojeda is a career civil servant and has been working in the Health Surveillance Directorate for years. “Since 2009, I started here. I specialized in field epidemiology, I started like that, as a field epidemiologist, with the first outbreaks, with the first H1N1 pandemic. Then I grew up, I spent a few years as coordinator of the National Liaison Center for the International Health Regulations, which is also part of the Health Surveillance System,” she recalled.

She highlighted that in the last five years she served as director of Public Health Surveillance and Emergency Response, which is an arm of the DGVS.
