ANDE loses between G. 500 and 1,000 million because of cryptomining

ASSUMPTION. Hugo Rolón, commercial manager of ANDE, explained the terrible damage done to the institution by the number of cryptominers that operate irregularly, stealing energy.

On 650 AM, Rolón said that “what these farms do is process virtual currencies. “We are talking about an average of 500 to 1,000 million guaraníes per month that they would have to pay for the consumption of electrical energy.”

“So far this year we have intervened about 14 crypto mining farms that were illegally connecting to the distribution network and this in terms of power represents approximately 40 megawatts. If we talk in numbers, it represents almost 2 times the consumption of cities like Pilar and Villarrica,” reported the commercial manager.

He stated that “normally, they are installed where we have several distribution feeders. Logically, in those places we also have industrial sectors and they blend into these industrial zones; So, they go unnoticed.”

“There is no significant variation, unless they are installed on radial lines, at the end of the line. “We are working with other State agencies to optimize the fight against illegals,” he concluded.
