A violent attack took place in Ankondromena municipality, Miandrivazo district on Wednesday night. It was a double attack, but the gendarmes always resisted, even though the bandits used powerful weapons, such as Akm (kalach) guns. The first one appeared in Akondoromena village, on that Wednesday night only, around ten o’clock. While they were patrolling, according to the gendarmes’ media, they came across a suspicious person, not far from the cattle ranch in Atsimondalana. These suspicious people were carrying guns and as soon as they noticed the patrolling gendarmes, they immediately opened fire. They are six men, the news continues, and the shooting between the two sides is intense. However, they fled immediately after the confrontation. It was noticed that two men were shot by the police but managed to escape.
The second time after this, about an hour later, the gendarmes received a call again that there are terrorists planning to attack in the village of Mahavelo, not too far from the first place. This time again, the bad guys have reached dozens of people, according to the news. It took less than an hour for the patrols to land in the village. A few minutes later, an unknown number of mobs joined hands. The shooting started again, guns drawn. This conflict lasted for a day and a half, when the criminals gave up and ran away. “About one and a half hours, the situation in Mahavelo was completely under control” according to the information. In the meantime, it was found that one person, one of the attackers, was shot dead. An assault rifle was also found at the scene, along with 15 bullets.
In this double attack, both of them failed to accomplish what they had planned to do. The hunt and search for the fugitives in the area is still going on.
