The head of the Tripoli Traffic Affairs Office, Major General Abdel-Al Wadi, announced an increase in the number of seized cars, whether stolen or wanted for use in crimes, after activating the security information system and linking all patrols and points to it.
Major General Abdel-Al Wadi said, in statements published by the Tripoli Security Directorate, “We succeeded, with the efforts of the traffic police and other agencies, in eliminating the phenomenon of walking around without metal plates and tinted glass inside the capital.”
The head of the Tripoli Traffic Affairs Office revealed the existence of future plans in cooperation with various authorities in the country to alleviate traffic congestion within the capital according to available capabilities.
Major General Abdel Aal Wadi pointed out that 2,353 foreign-owned vehicles were seized and changed during 2023, which is the highest number since 2011.
Major General Abdel Aal Wadi pointed out that the accident rate decreased significantly during the year 2023, and this is due to the commitment of drivers and the work of traffic officers in checking driving licenses, security and safety standards, and technical inspection of vehicles, which includes their general condition, the condition of the brakes, lighting, and front and rear warning.
Major General Abdel Aal thanked the Minister of Interior, Major General Imad Al-Tarabulsi, and the Director of Tripoli Security, Major General Khalil Waheeba, for their directives and direct follow-up, and for their material and moral support to the traffic police to perform their duties in the best possible way.
