An honest company robbed by its employees

The stolen items were all recovered and returned to the owner.

Victim of a theft perpetrated by its employees, a free clothing manufacturing company based in Tanjombato almost closed its doors due to bankruptcy. This measure was avoided thanks to the effective intervention of elements of the Andoharanofotsy gendarmerie brigade, which managed to catch the criminals. On March 15, 2024, the owner of this company filed a complaint regarding the disappearance of 596 kg of sewing threads with a total value of 175,000,000 ariary in his factory. Given the quantity of stolen objects, the operator warned in his complaint of his decision to proceed with technical unemployment if these work tools are not found.

A structured network. Seized of the case, the gendarmes immediately opened the investigation. This made it possible to know that the criminals are none other than employees of the company. Operating in a well-structured network, 12 people including a storekeeper, a maintainer, a driver, and a guard were involved in this theft which was committed on a non-working day. The guard let his accomplices enter freely. In possession of the keys to his workplace, the storekeeper took out the goods. The driver took care of the transport of the stolen objects, all of which were given to the receiver. The maintainer turned off the location’s surveillance camera. Referred to the prosecution of the Anosy First Instance Court, 11 suspects are placed in preventive detention at the Antanimora central house. The twelfth benefited from provisional release.

Reconnaissance. Satisfied with this result from the gendarmerie, the owner of the freehold company in question did not fail to express his thanks to the elements of the Andoharanofotsy brigade. As recognition of the success of this operation, on April 3, he handed over computer equipment, cabinets and office furniture in order to equip this brigade.
