The Mamounia Hotel in Marrakesh will host an exhibition by visual artist Camelia Zarqani, under the theme of Moroccan heritage, starting next June 8, as part of the celebration of the city of Marrakesh as the Capital of Culture in the Islamic World for the year 2024.
According to the organizers’ statement, “The artist Camelia Zarqani presents the paintings of her new collection, which celebrates the richness of the Moroccan cultural and civilizational heritage, and includes her new technique of ‘complex simplicity’, as she derived from the heritage and our ancient traditions ideas that she crystallized in the style of duality, to highlight the conventional aspect alongside her perception as a visual artist.” “It sums up the principles of perseverance, determination and continuity.”
The report, which was received by the electronic newspaper Hespress, added, “This new group of paintings is the first academic work and scientific and artistic research, and it required Camelia Zarqani to delve into the history of Moroccan heritage and its origins in order to present it in wonderful paintings for the recipient. The plastic artist herself has previously organized individual and group exhibitions bearing her mark in various fine schools, including the Mohammed V Theater, the Russian Cultural Institute, the media library of the Hassan II Mosque, the Living Art Gallery in Casablanca, the headquarters of the Casablanca-Settat region in Habous, and others.
It is worth noting that the visual artist Camelia Al-Zarqani is self-taught, born in the city of Ouazzane. She refined her talent under the supervision of an academic from the Swiss School of Fine Arts, and has constantly developed her artistic talent.
