The National Rabindra Sangeet Festival has been held every year for four decades. Rabindra Sangeet is not celebrated this big in Bengal anymore. In the continuation of this, the three-day festival is going to be held in the heart of the capital. However, this year’s 35th season is becoming a little more significant than all previous events.
Because two legends are staying almost throughout this festival. One is Kalim Sharafi, the other is Sadi Mohammed. Kalim Sharafi’s 100th birthday (May 8) will be celebrated through this festival. On the other hand, the entire festival is dedicated to the memory of Sadi Mohammed who passed away prematurely. As a result, it can be predicted in advance, throughout this festival, there will be echoes of the harmonious combination of birth and death wrapped in dance-song-recitation.

Rehearsals have been going on since last week. Which is led by the executive president of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sansthan Amina Ahmed. In Dhanmondi, the executive president’s residence is undergoing vigorous exercises every day. It can be seen from the rehearsals that this year’s event has cast a shadow on the minds of every artist.
The festival will be held at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium in the capital from May 9 to 11.
In relation to this year’s festival, there was a conversation with the executive president of the organization, Amina Ahmed, during the rehearsal. He said, ‘Actually, this year’s festival carries the message of joy as well as pain to us. As you know, the centenary birth anniversary of legendary artist and cultural organizer, Founder President of Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sansthan Kalim Sharafi is on May 8. We will celebrate it on May 9, the opening day of the festival. You also know that our beloved Sadi Mohammad, the founder of another organization Ravirag, passed away on this day. So we are dedicating the entire festival to him. Our preparations are going on with great enthusiasm. I hope something good will happen.’

The executive president also announced the preliminary schedule of the entire festival. Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel will inaugurate the festival at 5 pm on May 9. Dramatist Ramendu Mazumder will be the special guest.
The opening ceremony was organized with national anthem, two party anthems and lamp lighting. This will be followed by discussions, recitals and solos. There is a dance performance directed by Shibli Mohammed and Shamim Ara Nipa.
The first phase will start at 9:30 am on the second day of the festival on May 10. It will end at 12:30. Many cultural organizations will perform dance, song and recitation in this episode. These include Sangeet Bhavan, Bafa Uttarayan, Vaitalik, Vishwaveena etc.
Then the second phase will start at 5 pm. There will be group and solo performances.

Executive President of the organization Amina Ahmed said about this year’s event, ‘Every year your lively presence in the festival gives us encouragement and motivation.
