An alcohol user was arrested, causing the death of 3 of his companions and wounding others

The Criminal Investigation Department (Benghazi) arrested an alcohol user who caused the death of three of his companions and caused two others to suffer kidney failure after adding a medical solution, “Spirto,” to the alcohol they drank together.

The incident began after information was received by the Arrest Committee of the Investigation and Investigation Department of the Criminal Investigation Department, indicating that there were two cases of poisoning at Benghazi Medical Hospital after consuming poisoned local wine.

Accordingly, the arrest committee moved to the hospital to examine the injured and collect information about the source of that wine. It turned out that the first injured person was in intensive care and had suffered kidney failure, lost sight, and was in critical health before he died, while the second injured person had also died, and thus it was not possible to reach evidence with them to find out the details of the incident. However, the arrest team found that they were rescued from the Al-Salam neighborhood, where they drank alcohol together with a friend of theirs.

Accordingly, we moved to the area and launched a wide investigation operation that coincided with the receipt of a wireless signal from the main room of the Benghazi Security Directorate indicating the presence of a deceased person inside his home in the Al-Salam neighborhood.

Through the work of the arrest and investigation members on the report, the deceased was identified, and it was found that the cause of his death was his consumption of a compound alcohol made locally from the substance “Spirito” (a wound disinfectant). It was also found that at the time the deceased consumed that alcohol, he was accompanied by five other people, including the two who died inside the hospital. After being treated, they are in critical condition.

Expanding further into the investigation of the incident, during the same period, the arrest committee was informed of the presence of other injured people inside one of the private hospitals in the city of Benghazi, so the members of the committee moved there immediately. When the arrest committee arrived at that hospital, they were informed that the two injured had suffered kidney failure, but the members The committee was able to reason with them, so they confessed to the source of that wine and who added the medicinal solution to it, which was their sixth friend, in addition to one of their deceased companions.

By investigating this sixth person, the members of the arrest committee were able to arrest him in the “Al-Dagadosta” area, and he was taken to the main headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Agency to hear his statements, in which he confessed to what was attributed to him, and he was referred to the Public Prosecution.
