Baobab Banque Madagascar organized, on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the Novotel Convention and Spa Antananarivo, the big awards ceremony for the Ampela Trophy, an initiative dedicated to promoting female entrepreneurship in Madagascar. This gala ceremony marked the culmination of the first edition of this national competition launched as part of the AMPELA program.
The event brought together economic players, entrepreneurs and several figures involved in the promotion of female leadership. The evening was notably devoted to the designation of the Ampela Amazone, the big winner of this 2025 edition.
Faithful to its commitment to financial inclusion and women’s empowerment, Baobab Banque Madagascar has, through this trophy, highlighted women’s entrepreneurial journeys that bring innovation and economic impact. The competition brought together women entrepreneurs from different regions of the country, active in various sectors.
The Ampela Trophy is an extension of the AMPELA initiative, launched in 2023, which is based on three structuring pillars: inform, connect and invest. The initiative aims to sustainably strengthen the female entrepreneurial ecosystem in Madagascar, by facilitating access to information, networks and adapted financial solutions.
On the information side, the program emphasizes training, skills building and access to key data related to entrepreneurship. The connection pillar aims to open up opportunities at the national and international level, by promoting exchanges between women leaders and entrepreneurs. Finally, the investment axis seeks to improve access to financial products and services in order to support the growth and structuring of economic activities carried out by women.
National in scope, the competition took place in several stages. After regional selections organized in different areas of the country, a national semi-final made it possible to identify the finalists. The grand final on December 11 brought this process to a close with the designation of five winners, as well as a winner of the special Ampela Amazone Trophy.
The 2025 Grand Prize Winner, Razafitianarisoa Landricya, representative of the city of Ambanja in the Made in Madagascar category, stood out with her concept “From the plantation to the table”. Its project is based on the transformation of local cocoa beans into artisanal chocolates, promoting national production and local know-how.
The winner was awarded a check for 50 million ariary, in addition to the 5 million ariary already obtained for her category, accompanied by zero-interest financing intended to support the development of her activity.
In total, 506 participants took part in this first edition. The distinctions were awarded in several categories, including female innovation, responsible entrepreneurship, export excellence, digital transformation and the promotion of “Made in Madagascar”.
During the ceremony, the godmother of this first edition, Mrs. Noro Andriamamonjiarison, saluted women entrepreneurs who stood out for having “dared, created and developed”. For his part, the General Director of Baobab Banque Madagascar, Hugues Bonshe Makalebo, called for strengthening support for women entrepreneurs in order to contribute to “local economic development”.
According to the organizers, the Ampela Trophy is positioned as a lever for economic and social transformation, helping to strengthen the place of women in the national economy. A second edition has already been announced for 2026.
