Amnon Mokhtar from Pet was shot and killed in Kalkiliya

Amnon Mokhtar, 67 years old from Petach Tikva was murdered this morning (Saturday) after driving his car into Kalkilia. He left behind a wife and five children and children, one of his children got married a few months ago. Mokhtar is a long-time owner of a fruit and vegetable stall and a seller in the Pet market.

According to the report, Mokhtar was treated by the Red Crescent, until Civil Administration officers coordinated his transfer to receive treatment in Israeli territory. The security forces are on the scene. A military source says that today’s incident appears to be a nationalist attack. The army emphasizes that staying in areas A is prohibited and dangerous for Israeli citizens.

His son Nir said that Mokhtar was an exemplary father and grandfather. “A righteous man who was murdered by terrorists. It is clear to us that this is an attack.” According to him, “He loved traveling there, knew the people there. Everyone loved him and he would help everyone, it’s tragic that it ended like this, he didn’t think that’s what they would do to him there.”

“He would not hurt anyone, and he always helped those in need,” the son added. Eti, Amnon’s wife, added that “he was murdered only because he was Jewish. He was a pure soul. We raised five children to glory.”

After the incident, the IDF announced that its forces were operating in the city’s war zone and that the incident was being investigated with the help of the Israel Police. It was also reported that the murdered man was transferred to an MDA ambulance at Post 422, but it is not known if his death was determined before being transferred to the Israeli medical authorities.

The event takes place after a series of security and criminal events in the city this week. Last Thursday, a 70-year-old man was killed after being violently attacked and robbed near the city, in the Nabi Elias area. Yesterday, special forces from the police’s Gideon unit operated in the city under the direction of the Shin Bet and the IDF and killed two Islamic Jihad terrorists. In a police statement issued after the assassination, it was claimed that one of the terrorists planned to carry out an attack.
