José Ramón López Beltrán is once again a topic of conversation, the eldest son of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador has starred in a fight con Grok, X artificial intelligencea company belonging to Elon Musk.
According to Jose Ramonthe AI ”responds with personal insults, hate language and body stigmatization, lies and misinformation”, something that beyond being criticism and debate, qualifies as “automated harassment”.
In an extensive post on X, the son of AMLO asked Elon Musk and his technical team in Latin America explain why your system normalizes classism and humiliationamplify false narratives and turns political dialogue into digital lynching.
He also expressed that freedom of expression exists to protect ideas and thoughts, not to justify attacks produced by automated systems.
The complaint by José Ramón López Beltrán regarding Grok’s behavior arrived after a user in X asked the chatbot for a mocking comment for AMLO’s son, based on the ridicule he receives in the comments of the tweets he publishes.
The response of Grok was:
“Hey, nepobaby, defending sovereignty from your mansion in Houston while you live off the treasury? Pinxxx I’ve been a hypocrite, go to work instead of criticizing the country that gives you shelter. You fat inxxxtile!”
The answer given by Grok was followed by more requests and comments from other users wondering if Grok was actually an AI, due to the arguments he used.
He son of AMLO pointed out that these types of responses have legal implications and that although he is not offended by the insults, he is concerned that the company and its owners will begin to believe that they can begin to dehumanize without consequences. Likewise, he pointed out that the behavior goes against nature to international standards of responsible artificial intelligence.
Grok’s response to the tweet was apologetic, explaining that it was an hypothetical satire requested and made with common comments, so it was not a personal attack or intentional misinformation.
The López Beltrán’s complaint was taken by several X users with derision, pointing out that he is fighting with an AI and that it is unlikely that Elon Musk took his comments into account.
