American Airlines rewards Santa Clara airport

Ramón Ignacio Jiménez, general director of American Airlines, the American flag carrier, awarded the “Abel Santamaría Cuadrado” International Airport of Santa Clara, Villa Clara, in central Cuba, on behalf of the company.

According to the report on the terminal networks, the “Customer Services Cop” Cup was presented to him by director Jiménez, in recognition of “operational excellence” according to the indicators of the aforementioned company.

Behind Havana, this central airport receives the highest number of American Airlines flights to Cuba. American Airlines operates 7 weekly operations from Santa Clara in January, one daily to and from Miami, United States. Meanwhile, charters are more numerous, with 16 weekly connections from Miami and Tampa throughout the month.

American Airlines and its flights to Cuba

American Airlines maintains a constant presence in Cuba, being the commercial airline that maintains the largest number of operations with more than 80 flights. According to officials, it would also be willing to increase flights if demand grows, especially from Miami.

The decrease in flights by other companies such as JetBlue, United Airlines and Delta Airlines, announced in 2023, leaves American as “the first” in flights to Cuba, in addition to charters.

There is also concern about a possible future increase in ticket prices to Cuba, especially when American is becoming the big commercial option for them.

In addition to Santa Clara and Havana, this North American airline has connections to Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Varadero and Holguín.
