America will give information about Yahya Sinwar to Israel to stop Rafah operation

Tel Aviv: America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) chief William Burns has offered to provide information about Hamas military chief Yahya Sinwar in exchange for stopping the ground offensive in Rafah, Israel. Sinwar has been on Israel’s hit list since the war with Hamas began on October 7. It is believed that he is hiding in a tunnel between Khan Yunis and Rafah.

The US is pressuring Israeli leadership against a large-scale ground offensive in Rafah. About 13 lakh people including women and children are living here. William Burns is a respected US official who has close ties to many senior leaders in the Middle East. According to sources in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Burns has proposed to the Israeli leadership that the US intelligence agency will provide some important information about Yahya Sinwar which Israel needs.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has publicly stated that they will find Yahya Sinwar at any cost. According to sources, the CIA chief is also talking to the Mossad and Shin Bet chiefs in this matter.

Burns was involved in the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas during a week-long ceasefire in the last week of November 2023. However, it remains to be seen how the Israeli War Cabinet will react to this proposal, as Israeli forces have already launched an offensive in Rafah.
