MEXICO CITY (apro).– Jorge Álvarez Máynez, Citizen Movement (MC) candidate for the Presidency, supported the investigation against retired minister Arturo Záldivar for attacking judicial independence and acts of corruption.
“It seems good to me, it seems to me that investigations are fine as long as they are based on a logic of justice and not revenge. Let it be investigated, let responsibilities be determined, all people are innocent until proven otherwise, but let there be this investigation,” he said.
At an event of the Atizapán Citizen Movement Operational Commission, the candidate also highlighted that it is time to resume the unfulfilled promise of ending the pensions of retired ministers such as Senator Olga Sánchez Cordero and Arturo Zaldívar.
“Also, I think it is time to return to an unfulfilled promise. Do you remember that six years ago it was promised that the ministers’ pensions would end? It seems to me that it is time to return to what happened with Minister Sánchez Cordero, who, despite being Secretary of the Interior, being a Senator of the Republic, never gave up her pension.
“What is happening with Minister Saldívar himself, who has not given up his pension, despite being practically, frankly, in the electoral arena,” he detailed.
He also explained that the pension makes sense to guarantee a retired judge the impartiality and tranquility to continue living in post-work conditions, however, he emphasized that if they remain active, and especially in politics, it has no reason to exist.
