Performance in the Heat
The start of the competition was difficult for Correa, with a first wave that only gave him 0.17 points. However, his patience allowed him to improve his score over time. He managed 4.17 on one wave and then 6.33, reaching a total of 10.50. Although Inaba also had a good performance, the waves in the last minutes did not favor him, finishing with 10.16.
“The sea was horrible, we suffered in the water, we couldn’t find the tubes, we had to fight, do the maneuvers, and I’m happy to have done enough to get through. It was a tight heat. When the 7th came, it was difficult because finding a wave wasn’t easy. We did our job,” Correa told the Peruvian Olympic Committee.
In another interview conducted by Lucca Messinas and Diego Zegarra, Correa commented: “When I passed the wave, I said to myself how lucky I was. I went for the score, I caught that wave and it was good.”
Excitement and expectation surrounded Correa’s participation, which began on July 30. In the next round, Correa will seek to continue his path to an Olympic medal, facing new challenges and leaving Peru’s name high in world surfing.
