Almost 10,000 applicants applied for secondary school per day, but the system reports other problems

According to the ministry, 106,000 ninth-graders of primary schools and thousands of other applicants could apply to secondary schools this year, for example those interested in multi-year gymnasiums, secondary school students who want to change majors, or adult applicants who apply for distance or evening studies. According to Cermat, which is responsible for the admission process, 50 to 70 percent of parents could use the DiPSy system.

Cermat was originally supposed to launch the system on Thursday, February 1, but due to problems with uploading attachments and subsequent security verification, it opened it a day later. “I’m glad that the system is working after the initial delay and applicants and their legal representatives are choosing the fully electronic one from the three possible options,” Minister of Education Mikuláš Bek (STAN) stated today.

According to the director of Cermat, Miroslav Krejčí, the system has newly added an overview of submitted electronic applications, thanks to which users can see essential data about the applications. They can also withdraw an application submitted electronically and submit a new one. “We systematically merged duplicate applications, i.e. those that were absolutely identical, into a single one, which simplifies the process both from the point of view of the directors and from the point of view of the parents, and at the same time increases the efficiency of the system,” explained Krejci.

According to him, Cermat together with the Digital Information Agency (DIA) and the Ministry of the Interior are now solving the problems of several hundred users of the system with the display of the list of children. “We thank the public for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience,” added the director of Cermat.
