Alleged beating of voters including expulsion of agents – 2024-03-09 05:14:27

Noor ur Rahman Mahmud Tanim, advisor of the independent candidate Metropolitan Awami League, has expressed concern about the expulsion of agents from the center, beating of voters and the polling environment.

He made this complaint after casting his vote at Victoria Collegiate School Center in Ward No. 11 of the city on Saturday (March 9) around 8:50 am.

Noor Ur Rahman Mahmud Tanim told reporters that agents were not allowed to enter various centers. My agent has been kicked out from many centres. Also my constituents were beaten up in Ward No. 26. Voters coming to the polling station are being stopped and sent home. He requested the concerned authorities including the returning officer to intervene in these matters.

Comilla Metropolitan Awami League organizing secretary Tahsin Bahar (bus symbol), expelled BNP leader and two-time former mayor Monirul Haque Sakku (clock symbol) and former volunteer party leader Nizam Uddin Kaiser (horse symbol) are contesting in this election among others.

EVM voting is underway in 640 polling booths in 105 polling stations in ACT. Voting started at 8 am on Saturday and will end at 4 pm. Total voters in the city are two lakh 42 thousand 562 people. There are 1 lakh 24 thousand 278 female voters, 1 lakh 18 thousand 282 male voters and two third gender voters.
