Alianza Lima draws 1-1 with Cerro Porteño in the Copa Libertadores

Barcos tied for his team in the 80th minute of the match, while Juan Manuel Iturbe had scored for the Paraguayan team in the 26th minute of the first half.

On Tuesday night, on date 4 of group A of the Copa Libertadores, Alianza Lima, runner-up in Peruvian soccer, tied 1-1 with Cerro Porteño of Paraguay.

Despite Alianza Lima’s clear dominance throughout the first half, the result does not necessarily reflect what happened on the field of playsince the team was at a disadvantage with a goal against at halftime.

In the 26th minute, playmaker Juan Manuel Iturbe scored for the Paraguayan team with a shoulder blowafter receiving a precise center from the left wing.

Although the visiting team had the lead, they were the local team players who managed to create several dangerous opportunities in the first fifteen minutes of the game, putting Paraguayan goalkeeper Fernandes Filho in trouble.

In the 12th minute, a foray by Kevin Serna down the right side culminated in a cross that reached Barcos right on the edge of the small area.

“The Pirate” Barcos scored with a header for the hosts in the 80th minute. During the last ten minutes and added time, Alianza Lima constantly put pressure on Cerro Porteño’s goal, but the score remained unchanged. With this tie, both teams add one point; Alianza, with two points in four games, continues at the bottom of the Group A table.

In counterpart, Jeriel de Santisfrom the ‘blue and white’ team, showed greater effort than football skill, competing in all the divided balls and entering the Cerro Porteño area several times. However, the young forward’s outstanding feature continues to be his precision in finishing.

The second half of the match maintained the same dynamic as the first, with the home team needing to score on their own territory. The coach, Alejandro Restrepo, made changes on the bench, bringing on Zanelatto, Costa, D’Arrigo and Arregui.
