Aleš Juchelkaelected in the Moravian-Silesian Region, heads the media committee and is a member of the social committee. He holds the position of vice president in the ANO parliamentary club and is the movement’s shadow minister of labor and social affairs.
On TV with Krajč on the side
He was a TV presenter in the past. With Richard Krajč, he hosted the music program Medúza on Czech TV. He has been a Member of Parliament since 2017. That is long enough for even the head of ANO Andrej Babiš to remember his namewho, however, in January 2023 at a thank-you party for his people from ANO on the press after the 1st round of the presidential elections he couldn’t think of Juchelko’s name.

“I know that Juchelka, first name…,” Babiš asked for help. “Alesh, well, well. There are an awful lot of those Juchelkas,” the boss said YES. From that time, however, according to information from the House of Representatives, he began to greet Juchelka by her full name.

Insidious Sanfilippo syndrome
Juchelka is married, with his wife Teresa, whom they met in the Church of the Brethren, three children were born to them – Emma, Oskar a Oliver. Son Oliver (†10) later died.
He was born in 2007, but at the age of ten succumbed to Sanfilippo syndrome – which is a metabolic disorder, by another name mukopolysacharidoza type IIIA. A neurodegenerative and incurable disease in which an apparently healthy child is born, but its development later stops and “regresses”. Oliver learned to walk and many other things, but gradually he started to forget everything again. And for Juchelka’s family, his diagnosis was a huge blow.
“He was an amazing child, he learned so many things by the age of three that people didn’t believe that he could do all this at three years old. He could spread bread and butter himself at the age of three, he went to the fridge for cheese, basically made breakfast, he was very clever (…) when he was four, he became terribly hyperactive, he stopped sleeping and we didn’t know if it it has or doesn’t have a solution. And it was a terribly difficult period, but he was still a joyful, clever boy who was learning new things. When he was five, he stopped learning new things and started forgetting the old ones,” said Tereza Juchelková on CT in a moving memory of little Olík.
At the same time, the Juchelks planned to have four children. After three difficult births, they wanted to adopt a baby girl. “Right around the time we were supposed to be getting a little girl from the orphanage, we found out about Oliver’s diagnosis,” recalled Juchelka in ČT. They called the regional office and announced that they were no longer waiting…
One word after the death of my son: Already…
Oliver stopped walking, ended up in a wheelchair, and had epileptic seizures. He spent two months in an Ostrava hospital for hospitalization. He died in April 2017. At home, in his bed. Mother Tereza slept in the room with him.
“In the morning, Terezka came to me that it had actually already happened. She only said one word. And that was: Already…,” recalled Juchelka in the 13th chamber.
The period before his son’s death was difficult for him as well. He collapsed, ended up on drips. “Everyone associates me as a moderator, but I’ve actually had a marketing, campaigning company since I was eighteen. on inventing – as I call it – sheepishness for clients,” said ČT Juchelka in addition. “The collapse came for the reason that if a person tries to be the holder in some way, it will manifest itself somewhere else,” added Juchelka.
“It still hurts. It is impossible to cope with it completely and probably never will be. I need to process it even more so that I can fully breathe and move on with life. Also due to the election campaign in 2017 and politics, I didn’t have enough time to do it and concentration. Other family members had time and space for this, I can see that it was cleansing for them. So far, I’m worse off than them,” Juchelka told info.cz some time ago.
Who is Aleš Juchelka?
- Aleš Juchelka has been an MP since October 2017, i.e. the second term. He is currently the chairman of the media affairs committee and a member of the social policy committee in the House of Representatives.
- He is also a member of the Subcommittee on Domestic and Sexual Violence and the Standing Committee on Family and Equal Opportunities. Jand vice-chairman of the parliamentary club of the ANO movement.
- A native of Ostrava (April 18, 1976), he studied economics at the Faculty of Economics of the Mining University – Technical University of Ostrava.
- He worked as a radio presenter at Radio Čas and Czech Radio. In 1998, he joined Czech Television, where he worked as a screenwriter, dramaturg and presenter.
- He became widely known as presenter of the Medúza music show. He took part, for example, in the programs Cyklus prot prům, Ta naše povaha česká, Exit 316 or Křestűnský magazín.

- He entered politics in 2010 as a member of TOP 09, when he was elected to the Ostrava council from the position of the leader of the candidate in the municipal elections. Four years later, he failed again as the leader of the TOP 09 candidate in Ostrava, the party did not get into the council. He did not even succeed as the leader of the TOP 09 candidate in the Moravská Ostrava and Přívoz district.
- He did not succeed in the municipal elections in this district in 2018 and 2022 either already as a member of the ANO movement.
- He was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in the fall of 2017, as a non-party member on the candidate list of the ANO movement. In the House of Representatives, he became the deputy chairman of the election committee and a member of the social policy committee. Among other things, he was also the chairman of the standing committee for the family, equal opportunities and national minorities.
- He defended his mandate in the October 2021 elections, already as a member of the ANO movement.
The possible ones In addition to Jurečka, former Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec and former Speaker of the House Radek Vondráček were now adepts for the leadership of the House of Representatives.
The current Speaker of the House of Representatives, Klára Dostálová, whom Juchelka is to replace, se will take up the mandate in the European Parliament at its July session. In the post-election negotiations, ANO will strive to hold the same position in the leadership of the European Parliament after its establishment in a composition changed by the elections.
