Al-Zaimi was absent from “Banat Lalla Manana”

Moroccan actress Meriem Al-Zaimi is absent from the crew of the third part of the famous series “Daughters of Lalla Menana”, whose scenes a few days ago began filming in the city of Chefchaouen, in preparation for showing it on Channel 2 during Ramadan 2026.

A private source confirmed to Hespress that Al-Zaemi will not be present in the new season of the series, which achieved widespread success in its previous seasons, explaining that her absence was not a spur of the moment, as her character was not included in the events of the third part since the first scenario writing stage.

The same source highlighted that the Moroccan artist is currently devoting her time to her new theatrical project, as she is supervising the directing of the play “Chaos” and is embarking on a theatrical tour in a number of Moroccan cities, which has made her postpone several other artistic projects that were scheduled during the current year.

The spokesman added that Al-Zaimi’s absence is not related to professional disputes or sudden decisions, but rather falls within the framework of artistic choices related to production and scenario, noting that this year the series is witnessing “fundamental changes” that include the story, events, and characters, in order to renew the spirit of the work and keep pace with the aspirations of the Moroccan audience, which has had a special relationship with the series since its first showing.

According to data obtained by Hespress, the new season of “Girls of Lalla Manana” will feature the addition of a group of artistic figures entering the world of the series for the first time, including Narjis Al-Hallaq, Anas Kamani, Ghaitha Kitan, Tasnim Shaham, Moncef Qabri, and Omar Assil, who are young names who are betting through this work on gaining the trust of the Moroccan viewer and highlighting their abilities in the field of social drama.

The filming of the third part comes after more than a year of technical and artistic preparations, which included intensive sessions to write the script and choose the filming locations, with the aim of presenting a “different” season that combines the appeal of the old characters and the vitality of the new elements, according to a directorial vision supervised this time by director Shawqi Al-Aufir, who seeks to present a new visual reading that preserves the spirit of the original work and gives it a contemporary breath.

The next season will propose a renewed scenario that carries unexpected surprises and events, while preserving the dramatic and human character that has distinguished the series since its inception, in addition to developing the relationships between the characters to ensure continued suspense and excitement.

Despite the absence of some of the faces associated with the work in its previous two seasons, the series continues to rely on its basic pillars, through the participation of prominent names such as Samia Agrio, Noura Al-Sakli, Al-Saadia Ladeeb, and Yassin Ahjam, who formed one of the factors of the series’ success and its retention of its audience for more than a decade.

It is noteworthy that the “Daughters of Lalla Menana” series, which was shown for the first time in 2012, is considered one of the most successful Moroccan dramatic productions, as it achieved record viewership rates when it was broadcast, and received wide praise thanks to its distinguished plot inspired by the international play “The House of Bernarda Alba” by the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, turning into a symbolic work in the memory of Moroccan drama.
