Al -Zahrawi criticizes political support for Iran

In an exciting intervention during one of the recent political seminars, Professor Mohamed Al -Zahrawi, a researcher in political science, raised an issue that occupies the minds of the followers: How can a Moroccan citizen, but for an intellectual, journalist or academic, to support the Iranian regime, despite everything that is known for its hostile regional role, and his involvement in supporting movements that threaten the territorial integrity of the Kingdom?

Al -Zahrawi asked surprisingly: “How does the Moroccan person accept the advocacy of Iran? Is it the result of a weakness in media framing?”, Before explaining that it is natural, from a humanitarian standpoint, that the Moroccan refuses to support Israel because of its policies towards the Palestinians; But Iran’s advocacy raises, as he put it, “a real problem in the country”, due to the association of Tehran’s organic association with the “Polisario” front, and its strategic alliance with the Algerian regime, the first opponent of Morocco in its national cause.

The spokesman singled out part of his intervention to review Iran’s record in the region, describing it as a “destructive force”, which committed atrocities against Arab peoples; Through its arms such as the popular crowd in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen, as well as its bloody intervention in Syria. He also accused her of carrying out hostile actions directly against Morocco, considering that all of this makes her support or sympathy with her an incomprehensible position on the part of any free and original Moroccan.

Despite the severity of his position, Al -Zahrawi distinguished between the ordinary person who may be deceived by some speeches and between the intellectual, journalist, or academic in which he is supposed to be greater awareness of geopolitical contexts.

The researcher in political science called for the necessity of opening a responsible national debate on this phenomenon, as an indication of an imbalance in the link to the higher interests of the country, and in understanding the fateful bets; On top of which is the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

Al -Zahrawi did not hide his surprise at the contradictions that have become the political discourse of some actors; While there were clear official positions accusing Iran of conspiring against Morocco during the period of some politicians in power, we find today parties that include the same names that issue statements that tend to support Tehran, in what it considered “a real problem in stability on the positions”, and the absence of what he called “the boundaries between what is in principle and what is circumstantial.”

Al -Zahrawi concluded his intervention by inviting researchers and Moroccan elites to interact with the conscious interaction with the transformations that the Arab East knows, which will undoubtedly have direct repercussions on the national issue, and on the negotiating site of Morocco in the context of a long struggle with the thesis of separation directly supported by the eastern neighbor.
