Al-Tawfiq values ​​the ties between Morocco and Senegal

The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Al-Tawfiq, highlighted, the day before Saturday in Dakar, the deep spiritual and religious ties that unite Morocco and Senegal, stressing that these strong ties are based on common religious constants and relations of exchange and interaction in both directions.

Al-Tawfiq stressed, in a speech during the opening of the forty-fifth session of the “Islamic Cultural Days”, organized by the Tijaniya Coordination in Dakar under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, that these relations are characterized by a popular dimension and a deep Sufi load strengthened by the sheikhs of the Tijaniya order and its disciples, as well as other Sufi families.

The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs added that this meeting, which began at the Grand Mosque in Dakar and brings together sheikhs and followers of the Tijaniya order, aims to study and discuss various issues and issues that concern the order in its methods of operation and means of extension and spread.

In this context, the Moroccan government official highlighted the contribution of the order, through its sheikhs, disciples, and followers, in addition to the contribution of other Sufi families, in enriching the ties of religious cooperation and spiritual communication between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal, within a framework of strong relations that enabled the strengthening of common religious constants.

Al-Tawfiq also pointed out that history bears witness to deep spiritual and historical ties that have united Moroccans and their Senegalese brothers for a long time, highlighting that the Tijaniya order has been working to strengthen these ties thanks to the tireless work of its sheikhs and disciples in order to spread the principles of the order and its ideal values, especially at the level of spiritual purification.

The minister also highlighted the prestigious position occupied by Sheikh Sidi Ahmed Tidjani, the founder of the order, in the hearts of his disciples, recalling in this context the care he received from the Alaouite Sultan Moulay Suleiman. He also noted the care given to the Tijanians by King Mohammed VI, and his keenness to preserve the distinguished fraternal ties between Morocco and Senegal.

For his part, Serine Babacar Si Mohamed Mansour, Caliph-General of the Tijanis, expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI for his continued support for these spiritual and cultural days, praising the high care that the Moroccan monarch gives to Sufi orders and to all initiatives aimed at strengthening spiritual, scientific and cultural ties, spreading the values ​​of moderation and moderation, serving Islam and Muslims, and consolidating common religious principles.

He said, in a speech read on his behalf, that “relations between Morocco and Senegal remain deeply rooted through a common faith, sincere love, and true brotherhood,” noting that the Tijaniya order has played an essential role in consolidating these ties since its teachings arrived in West Africa from Morocco.

For his part, Mohamedou Bemba Cisse, Senegalese Minister of the Interior and Public Security, stressed the importance of “Islamic Cultural Days,” highlighting that this event constitutes, since its inception, an open school whose teaching has continued to have a positive impact on the lives of the followers of the Tijaniya order.

Bemba Cisse added that this cultural meeting aims to consolidate a culture of peace and enhance peaceful and social cohesion between the peoples of Senegal and Morocco, who have deep historical relations.

The official opening ceremony of the “Islamic Cultural Days”, which was hosted in the courtyard of the Grand Mosque in Dakar, took place under the honorary presidency of Senegalese President Basserou Diomay Fay, in the presence of a number of Senegalese officials and Hassan Naciri, the Moroccan ambassador to Senegal, along with other Moroccan and Senegalese figures.

The Islamic Cultural Days in Dakar are among the largest events organized by the Tijaniya order in Senegal, as they have been organized, since 1986, under the high patronage of the late King Hassan II, and then later under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI.

According to the organizers, these cultural days, which were founded in 1981 by the late Sirin Abdel Aziz Si ​​Dabakh, the Caliph-in-Chief of the Tijanis, aim to strengthen cohesion between followers and disciples of the Tijaniya order and promote the values ​​of peace, tolerance and coexistence among peoples.
